How to Create and Manage Recurring Course

How to create a course

The course can be created simply by navigating to Courses → Create course:

Step 1: Enable Recurring Course

Start by selecting the "Recurring Course" option when creating or editing your course.

Step 2: Set the Initial Expiration Date

Choose the date when learners' progress or certification will first expire.

  • This date must be in the future.

  • After this, the course will reset automatically on a recurring basis.

  • Step 3: Choose the Expiration Timeframe

    Define how often the course should repeat, for example every 6/12 months.

    This keeps learners up to date with mandatory or compliance training.

  • Step 4: Set the Deadline (optionally)

  • Turn on the deadline toggle and choose how long learners have to complete the course once assigned (such as 2 weeks).

Settings

Recurring course includes options of:

  • establishing initial expiration date;

  • starting deadlines from the course’s initial expiration date;

  • settling expiration timeframe.

Additionally, the recurring course applies smart logic to count deadlines from assignment, invitation, or enrollment if learners join later and triggers deadlines based on when the course is assigned or opened in libraries and learning paths.

How to track progress?

In order to check Learners’ progress, proceed to Recurring course dashboard and you can see the current progress including completed activities, last training participation, and due dates.

Check a Learner profile to see an individual progress:

  1. Open a Dashboard;

  2. Click on Learner’s profile picture or a name;

  3. Go to Progress section.

Automation

Recurring courses in EducateMe automatically reset learner progress based on a set schedule (ideal for compliance or annual training).

With automation, learners’ progress is automatically reset after the course expiration date. This ensures that recurring course stays up to date and learners complete the course again within each new cycle.

Simply set the initial expiration date and recurrence period, and the platform’s automation will do the rest. The deadlines and email reminders ensure learners stay on track without extra Team work.
