Watch the video for a step-by-step tutorial on creating and managing onboarding in EducateMe:

How to create an employee onboarding training?

Step 1: Create a course

To start, navigate to the Courses page and click on Create course. After setting up the course, fill it with relevant content such as lessons, quizzes, and even more!

Overview of Self-paced course’s activities

For a detailed walkthrough, refer to the How to Create and Manage Courses article. Learn more about each activity in our collection, where each is described in detail.

Step 2: Organize courses into a structured learning path

Once your courses are ready, the next step is to assemble them into a coherent learning path that guides new hires through the onboarding training.

  1. Go to the Learning paths page in your dashboard.

  2. Click on Create path and provide a descriptive name.

  3. Use the Add steps button to incorporate your courses into the path.

  4. Arrange the courses in the desired sequence.

  5. Assign deadlines to ensure timely completion (optionally).

This structured approach ensures that new employees receive information in a logical and manageable sequence. For more details, see the Learning Path guide.

Step 3: Enroll new hires into the learning path

When your learning path is established, it’s time to enroll new employees:

  1. Click on the Publish button to make the learning path available.

  2. Choose Enroll only learners with tags under Set Enrollment Rules. For instance, you can create a way that assigns the path to learners tagged as “L&D” and/or adds the created time of the learner’s account on the platform.

  3. Use the Learners page to invite and assign appropriate tags to each employee, facilitating automatic enrollment based on their role or department.

Read How to use Tags for more details.

Step 4: Monitor progress and analyze performance

Tracking the progress of your new hires is crucial to ensure the effectiveness of your onboarding program:

See Progress in a created learning path to verify the statuses of assigned courses, export data, and see the activities completion for each learner.

Utilize the Activity Log to gain insights into active users’ interactions:

These analytics help identify areas where learners may need additional support and allow you to make data-driven decisions to enhance the onboarding experience.

Expert Tip: Combine structured learning paths with automated tag-based enrollment and progress monitoring to create a consistent onboarding experience. Regularly review analytics and activity logs to identify gaps, offer timely support, and ensure employees are ready to succeed in their roles.

Next steps: Expand into Upskilling training

After successfully implementing your onboarding program, consider extending your training initiatives to include upskilling opportunities.

In the next article of upskilling training, we’ll walk you through creating courses, organizing them into course libraries, automating enrollment based on tags, and tracking learner progress with built-in analytics. For guidance on setting up upskilling training, refer to our Upskilling training use case article.
