This guide walks you through setting up cohort-based learning experiences using EducateMe. Perfect for bootcamps and intensive programs, this setup ensures learners progress together through structured content, interactive assignments, and a shared learning journey!
Step 1: Build structured course content
Start by creating your cohort-based course on the Courses page.
Use weekly modules to structure your content.
For example:
Week 1: Project Leadership and Stakeholder Management
Week 2: Advanced Planning and Execution Techniques
Week 3: Group project - Business Analysis for PM
Each module can include:
Lessons (with text, videos, PDFs, embedded tools like Loom or Google Suite)
Live events (synchronous sessions with calendar integration)
Assignments (individual or collaborative tasks)
Organizing content in this weekly format keeps your cohort aligned and helps manage learner expectations.
See How to Create and Manage Courses in EducateMe. Additionally, check out our Activity Types: Lesson, Event Assignment, Form, Peer Review & Certificate to find out more about activities.
Step 2: Schedule release dates for each module
To simulate a live and a time based experience, schedule modules, lessons, and assignments to open on specific dates.
In the Program, click the calendar icon next to each activity to set its release date.
Step 3: Create and manage assignments
Assignments are central to the cohort experience. Use the Assignment activity to create structured tasks and optionally, set release dates and deadlines for each assignment. Learners stay accountable, and instructors have a clear view of submission timelines and progress.
1. Create an assignment.
2. Add some content to it:
3. Go to Settings to set a deadline and/or decide if the assignment will require review from the instructor.
We highly suggest taking a look at How to create and manage assignments article to find out more details.
Once your learners complete the assignment, you can rate and comment on their submissions:
Step 4: Enable collaboration and feedback
Make learning interactive with a built-in collaboration tool: Peer Review.
Peer review assigns learners to review each other’s work using structured rubrics.
Check out the article on how to launch peer review and the guide for learners on how to do peer review.
Step 5: Foster community engagement and comments
Encourage a deeper connection with the Community feature.
Create course discussion channels or send direct messages and encourage introductions, Q&A, and discussion beyond the course content.
Instructors can also post announcements and tips. This builds a sense of belonging and simulates the community feel of in-person bootcamps.
Plus, you can enable comments for learners in lessons to make sure they ask questions and/or leave their feedback.
They will appear as well in the notification center at the top.
Step 6: Track learner progress and performance
The Score page provides a comprehensive overview of learners' progress throughout the course, detailing the completion status of all activities and their components, including lessons, events, assignments, quizzes, and peer reviews.
You can also check individual Learner Profiles for a detailed breakdown of activity logs and performance, see:
